Children of Zodiarcs

Children of Zodiarcs for PC and PS4 is a turn-based tactial RPG developed by Cardboard Utopia, studio created by the makers of games like Eternal Darkness, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, The Warriors, or Far Cry 3.

The Plot

The game takes place in a fantasy world dominated by the Toran Empire that owes its power and position to the ancient machines known as Zodiarcs. They were left behind by a long lost and extinct civilization. The game’s story takes place in the city of Torus, the Empire’s capital.

We play as a group of thieves whose each member suffered because of the Empire. They are caught in the act of robbing one of the most powerful nobles in the realm, which draws the attention of guards and other criminal groups, like the Cannibal Clan.

Mechanics

The creators of Children of Zodiarcs for PC and PS4 we inspired by the tactical jRPGs from 16- and 32-bit consols, but also implemented some mechanics from card and board games. Gameplay focuses on turn-battle combat. Our enemies are often better equipped than our heroes, so we have to be smart. Using the environment to our advantage and the unique abilities of each of our heroes will grant us victory.

All of our actions, excluding movement, like activating special abilities, are controlled by a deck of cards of our making. The game also has the dice mechanics. If we throw them, we can empower each of our activities. Crafting system was built around them. It will allow us to create new dices or improve the ones we already own. Like every proper RPG, Children of Zodiarcs for PC and PS4 also has character progression mechanics. We can increase our stats and buy new skill for the experience points we get during our adventures.
