Tactical game in the climates of science fiction prepared with Xbox Live Arcade in mind. We create a fleet of futuristic spaceships, manage their equipment by selecting the right cannons and upgrades, and then fight enemy units by conquering new areas of the galaxy.
Galactic Reign is a small production created by Slant Six Games studio, known mainly from several scenes of SOCOM first person shootout. This time it decided to create a tactical game, the action of which is set in the futuristic atmosphere of science fiction. The player takes on the role of commander of a fleet of spaceships and tries to eliminate the enemy squadrons standing in the way of mastering the whole galaxy.
Before each battle we visit the hangar. From this level, we modify our fleet: we buy new ships with the cash collected during the campaign, and we also assemble various pieces of equipment. Depending on the component selected, they provide bonuses on damage, shot speed, range, ship strength and flight speed. Each unit has a limited number of slots, so choosing the right set of slots is crucial to the success of the mission.
Then you move to the galaxy map screen. We move our squadrons between planets in order to conquer the whole area. If you approach enemy units, the battle begins: both armies arrive from opposite sides and fight to the last drop of blood. At any time we can turn on the active pause and view the current status of individual units.
In the course of the game we observe the effective exchange of fire from laser and energy cannons and accompanying explosions of hit ships. Fleet management screens and maps, on the other hand, look relatively minimalist and transparent.
