OpenCritic
The first big add-on to Forza Horizon 4, which takes the players to an island north of the UK. New races and challenges await them there, as well as previously unseen atmospheric phenomena, such as thunderstorms and auroras.
Fortune Island is the first big expansion to Forza Horizon 4. Like the basic version of the game, DLC was developed by Playground Games, which in June 2018 became the property of Microsoft Studios.
Mechanics
Forza Horizon 4: Fortune Island takes the players on a journey to the title island north of the UK. First of all, new races and challenges await them on the spot. In addition, the territory is characterized by an extremely varied topography, which translates into the presence of long mountain serpentines or dangerous dirt roads running close to high cliffs. The expansion also introduces a pack of additional cars and previously unseen atmospheric phenomena, such as thunderstorms and picturesque polar lights.
Game modes
Like the original game, Forza Horizon 4: Fortune Island enables us to play both solo and with other players in online multiplayer mode.
Technical aspects
Fortune Island does not change the audiovisuals of Forza Horizon 4. It requires the base version of the title to work.

COGconnected: 90 / 100 by Alex Everatt
While I hope the next expansion is a bit more wild, much like the Hot Wheels expansion from Forza Horizon 3 – I can still recommend this expansion as a worthwhile addition to Forza Horizon 4.
Destructoid: 9 / 10 by Brett Makedonski
It's more Forza Horizon 4, but Fortune Island has a hook that's worth its weight in gold. Turning an island into a giant scavenger hunt is the kind of allure that works perfectly with Forza Horizon. Elsewhere, completing events has its own intrinsic appeal; excelling at racing and stunts is rewarding because it's a racing and stunts game. In Fortune Island, progression brings about a sense of mystery and discovery. That's a reward that's nearly as rich as the millions of credits scattered about the island.
Saving Content: 4 / 5
Forza Horizon 4‘s first DLC goes for the extreme and dangerous, a decision that’s sure to be divisive. There is something for everyone, but a lot more could have been done with it. The weather, effects, dangerous roads, and treasure chests are the best things about this expansion. The content is a bit short, and the lack of housing is disappointing for those wanting to find permanent residence. Overall, Fortune Island isn’t what you do in it, but what you do with it.
