Forsaken Remastered is a visually refreshed version of a 1998 FPS released on PC, PlayStation and Nintendo 64. The action of the game takes place in a science fiction setting, and the gameplay focuses on movement in all three dimensions. Nightdive Studios is responsible for creating the refreshed edition. The original game was developed by Probe Entertainment (with the exception of the Nintendo 64 version - the port for this platform was developed Iguana Entertainment UK).
Plot
In the distant future, scientific progress has escaped people's control. The accident during an experiment caused an uncontrolled reaction of nuclear fusion, completely destroying the surface of the Earth. The planet is classified as forsaken by the ruling imperial theocracy - thus anyone can lawfully loot everything that remains on it. The player takes on the role of one of the mercenaries involved in this activity.
Mechanics
Unlike in many other FPS games, we don't control a human being, but a small flying ship (just like in the famous Descent series, which inspired the original version of Forsaken). The characteristic feature of this production is that we can move freely in all three dimensions (also up and down), with the possibility of free rotation of the camera. The action is very fast and requires a lot of dexterity from the player, as the game features are several dozen different weapons and several types of opponents.
Game modes
Forsaken Remastered can be played solo or in the company of others. The game features a single-player campaign consisting of several levels, as well as six multiplayer modes, enabling competition between players (Free For All, Team Game, Capture the Flag, Flag Chase, Bounty Hunt, Team Bounty Hunt).
Technical aspects
Forsaken Remastered features old-school, three-dimensional graphics, which, despite some refreshment (mainly adjusting an image to modern standards of 16:9 and 16:10, as well as the use of higher resolution) definitely differs from what can be seen in games released in the 21st century. However, the title may attract fans of retro games.
