Space shooter 2D with tower defense strategy elements. The player directs the defense of the star base, and his task is to build satellites with gunshells, combat ships and auxiliary objects that will help to repel attacks from the enemy. The game was produced by an independent casualogic studio.
Fleet Buster is a debut production of independent casualogic studio. The developers' ambition was to extend the proven convention of 2D space shooters with elements characteristic for tower defense strategy.
The action of the game takes place in the distant future, where an aggressive faction tries to conquer the Universe with military force. The player takes on the role of the star base commander, and his task is to repel the waves of enemy units.
The game focuses on two elements. The first one is defence planning - at this stage the player can deploy satellites with shooting towers on the board, build auxiliary objects (e.g. power centers) and build spacecraft. An important limit is the amount of energy possessed. After the preparation phase, an invasion takes place, during which the player directs the fire of defensive formations, and decides on their expansion.
The game is characterized by high dynamics. As the game progresses, the level of difficulty increases, which means more and more powerful enemy units. The key to victory often turns out to be the right order of elimination of enemy forces.
The technical layer of the Fleet Buster is based on the capabilities of the Haaf's Game Engine. The two-dimensional graphics used in the game were enriched with simple animations of movement of units and a large number of special effects (explosions, flashes, etc.). Noteworthy is the dynamic soundtrack that accompanies the gameplay.
