Fire Emblem Heroes for AND and iOS is a free-to-play tactical RPG with optional microstransactions. It was created by Nintendo’s first-party developer. It is the first installment of the popular console series that was released on mobile platforms.
Plot
The game takes place in a fantasy world divided between two opposing nations: striving for world domination Embla Empire, and Askran Kingdom, bent on stopping the Emblians. The players take the role of an Askran mage, whose task is to save the Kingdom. Thanks to the unique ability of summoning heroes from other games from the series, this mission is not hopeless.
We use this power to gather ourselves an army, but the Emblian forces have a champion who posseses the same ability. That is why, during the campaign, some of the series’ famous characters will be fighiting alongside our enemies.
Mechanics
The core of Fire Emblem Heroes for AND and iOS gameplay are turn-based battles based on a simple gesture system. It is crucial to use the unique abilities of the summoned heroes during battle, and it’s also very useful to take advantage of the landform and the surroundings. Maps are rather small and usually will fit on our device’s screen. It was designed so that our battles would not take longer than couple of minutes to finnish, which is quite suitable for the game’s mobile character.
Like every proper RPG, Fire Emblem Heroes has a functional character progression system. During battles, we gain experience and level up, increasing our stats and unlocking new abilities.
Misc.
Fire Emblem Heroes is a single-player only game, with an interesting campaign and a few additional game modes, like Arena Duels, Hero Battles, and Training Tower, which we can play repeatedly to gain more experience and obtain new items.
