Fieldrunners Attack

Fieldrunners: Hardhat Heroes, released on AND and iOS, is a real-time strategy. The game is available in a free-to-play model with microtransactions. It was developed by Flaregames studio, the authors of the Royal Revolt series.

Plot

The action takes place in the universe known from previous editions and unlike most of the productions in this style, Fieldrunners: Hardhat Heroes offers an extensive story campaign. It is divided into sixty missions in which we fight against the servants of the mad scientist known as Dr. Catastrophe.

Mechanics

At first glance, Fieldrunners: Hardhat Heroes remains faithful to the basic rules of this genre. The game is divided into two parts. The first one is the strategic mode where we can manage the base. We need to collect resources, construct buildings, research new technologies and build automatic defense systems capable of resisting enemy attacks on our command center. We also train an army which we command in the tactical mode - our units can assault bases of the artificial intelligence or other players.

However, the authors were not satisfied with replicating the standards of the genre and instead they added a lot of elements from classic RTSs. First of all, we have full control over the units during battles and we can freely give them orders to attack or move, and not just passively look at how they fight on their own. We have access to various soldiers and each of them has a different specialization. In addition, the opponent is not passive during the matches - it leads their units and constructs new buildings, making it difficult for us to win.

Base management is also rather extensive. We have more buildings to choose from, and collecting resources requires the training of special units - this forces us to decide which materials are a priority for us at a given moment.
