Fate of the World is an unconventional strategy game by an independent British studio Redemption, known for its socially engaged productions. It addresses the important issues of climate change that the world will face in the next 200 years and the impact of science, politics and technology on the world.

In the game we play the role of a member of a fictitious international organization, influencing social and economic policy and the development of science and technology in the world. Our main goal is to stop the crisis and protect our planet from inevitable degradation. To this end, we must manage the funds allocated to us, prevent natural disasters, carry out various secret operations, support research, look after endangered animal species and meet the food and energy needs that are growing as the world's population grows.

Fate of the World offers a huge selection of scenarios played in 12 regions of the world - China, Europe, India, Japan, Latin America, North America, North Africa, Oceania, Russia, South Asia, South Africa and the Middle East. They take place between 2020 and 2200. It is worth noting that each scenario is based on real data, which took more than a year of detailed research to collect. The general concept of the game is based on a scientific model developed by Dr. Myles Allen of Oxford University. Game developers put before us more than 1,000 possible events, the effects of which we will have to cope with. These include tornadoes, floods, heat waves, melting glaciers and rising water levels, wars, droughts, hunger, epidemics, energy and political crises, etc. The game also includes 50 endangered species of animals that we must take care of, as well as 40 technologies for the future, the development of which may help us to halt the inevitable catastrophe of our planet.

The game is played in turn-based system, and during each turn five years pass. The main screen of the game is a three-dimensional model of our planet, on which progressive climate change is shown on an ongoing basis. The player's actions are depicted in the form of cards distributed among each of the 12 regions of the globe. We are constantly accompanied by countless statistics and data from all over the world. The soundtrack of the game was created by Richard Jacqus, responsible for the soundtrack to Mass Effect.

It is worth noting that Fate of the World was nominated for the 2011 Index: Design Awards. He was also in the top ten of the Social Impact Games of 2010-11 list created by Games for Change.
