Heros is heading for the capital of the kingdom of Varsilia to receive a large inheritance, but he doesn't realize the role he will have to play in the history of the whole land of Varannar.

Story

Exiled Kingdoms takes us on a journey to a fantasy world. 100 years ago, the Andorran Empire fell victim to a magical cataclysm and was overrun by ominous creatures called Horrors. Thousands of survivors sailed to the overseas colony called Varannar, which they split into four kingdoms; as time passed, they managed to forget the tragic catastrophe. Unfortunately, this has not solved their problems - not only is Varannar a continent full of dangers and largely unexplored, but also individual factions often declare war on eachother, resorting to barbaric acts.

We, on the other hand, play the role of a custom hero (or heroine), who one day received a letter from the kingdom of Varsilia. The message showed that we got a large inheritance, which must be received in the capital city of New Garand. Without thinking too long, our protege set off on a journey, having no idea about the adventures ahead of them and the dangers they would have to face.

Mechanics

We start playing Exiled Kingdoms by creating a character. We can give them a name, choose a gender and portrait, and also decide their specialization. Then we move on to the distribution of points between the individual stats, as well as to the selection of special skills. Next, we can start the actual game.

The action is shown in isometric view. The devs prepared a vast world, which they divided into one hundred and eighteen smaller locations; this includes territories located on the surface, as well as underground labyrinths filled with traps, enemies and secret rooms. Varannar is inhabited by NPCs, with whom we can chat; NPCs are a valuable source of information about the game world, and in addition, many of them have tasks for us (although they do not lack fetch quests, we can also find much more extensive missions), the completion of which is associated with the opportunity to gain valuable rewards.

Of course, as befits a representative of the action RPG genre, in the course of the adventure we have to face a variety of enemies. The fights take place in real-time and during the battles we use both the combat capabilities of the protagonist (the range of which we broaden as we progress), as well as the use of melee and ranged weapons and spells. We can increase our hero's potential both by collecting more and more powerful equipment and leveling up; after a level up, we can increase the value of a selected character attribute, which is important as individual stats influence the success of our actions (for example, high intelligence unlocks additional dialogue lines).
