Bladebound

Bladebound is a fantasy action RPG released on AND and iOS. The game was developed by Polish studio Artifex Mundi and it uses free-to-play distribution model with microtransactions.

Plot

The story of the game starts in an unordinary, for the fantasy genre, way– with the failure of forces of good. The Order of the Valiant which defended the mortals was defeated by the forces of evil. The player assumes the role of the last surviving warrior, who after a few centuries returns to the realm in order to avenge his brothers, rebuild the order and save what is left of the world.

Mechanics

Premises of gameplay mechanics in Bladebound, released on AND and iOS, are the same as in other common action RPGs. The action is shown from a top-down perspective and most of the time player is exploring the world and fighting monsters by using an action-based combat system. The controls are more unordinary as the battles are based on drawing lines on the screen with fingers. The interface is very intuitive and works great in action. During the battles, the player can aid himself by activating various Psalms that provide him with useful bonuses.

Since it is a RPG game, Bladebound has a character development system that allows investing obtained experience points in increasing the statistics. The character’s battle abilities can be also reinforced by equipping him with better armors and weapons. The developers prepared a simple crafting system that allows creating new weapons as well.
