The fifth major installment in the popular mobile action RPG series by Gameloft. The story of Dungeon Hunter 5 is a direct continuation to its predecessor. Even though the forces of darkness have been stopped, glory days of the kingdom of Valenthia are at an end. Trade routes are overrun by bandits while demons appear in swamps to create a powerful undead army with the warriors who raised the grave.

Dungeon Hunter 5 for PC, AND and etc. is another installment of the incredibly popular mobile hack ‘n’ slash game series that has been in development at Gameloft since 2009. Similarly to the previous titles in the cycle (except the original), the production was also released for mobile devices with Android and is available in the popular free-to-play model.

Plot

Plot-wise, the game is a direct continuation of its predecessor and takes us to the somewhat run-down kingdom of Valenthia. As a result of a devastating war against forces of darkness, the kingdom’s power was significantly reduced, and the state itself plunged into political and military chaos. Numerous bandit gangs lurking on Valenthia’s trade routes take advantage of the situation, as do the steadfast demons that are raising a powerful army of undead to launch an invasion. The things are dire and require rapid action, and so new bounty hunters (including the player character) step in. Their task is to decimate the enemy ranks and restore order in the the kingdom.

Mechanics

The gameplay of Dungeon Hunter 5 for PC, AND and etc. is nearly identical to that of its predecessors. Its mechanics are heavily inspired by the genre cult classics such as the Diablo series. The action is presented from the characteristic isometric view. While playing, we explore the kingdom of Valenthia and perform quests given to us by NPCs. The game contains a lot of combat against various enemies, as well as other elements typical of the action RPG genre, such as gathering treasures or acquiring experience that lets us develop our character.

The noteworthy novelties of the fifth installment of the series include the possibility of designing and building a stronghold, along with all defensive systems and guards, who defend it. This place proves useful especially in the PvP mode because it lets us store our treasures and secure them from other players’ attacks. The equipment system now lets us destroy unneeded items which lets us gain raw materials that are required to enhance our weapons.

Game modes

Dungeon Hunter 5 for PC, AND and etc. features a cooperation mode that lets players join forces to tackle the most challenging quests. The game also allows us to compete against other users – we can invade their strongholds as well as fight their guards and eventually their characters.
