Release Date: November 23, 2018
Simulation, sandbox, indie games, animals, experimental/artistic, singleplayer
A sandbox simulation game in which we take control of the whole ecosystem. Our task is to provide the best possible living conditions for animals and plants, which guarantees us points allowing us to buy and develop new species.
Equilinox is a sandbox simulation game developed by the independent ThinMatrix studio established by a British developer Karl Wimble.
Mechanics
Equilinox allows players to take control of an entire ecosystem. With ten different biomes (such as deserts, tropical islands, jungles, and meadows), one plants plants, and cretes landscapes with a variety of animals; in total, more than a hundred and twenty species are available to choose from in the game.
While plants make the soil more fertile (which is conducive to vegetation), player have to take care of the happiness level of the animals (which may otherwise be sick or even die), all of which provides players with special points. These, in turn, can be spent both on the purchase of new organisms and on genetic manipulation of the already unlocked species in order to modify their features and behavioral patterns as players see fit. In addition, there are sixty tasks to be completed in order to receive valuable rewards (additional points, among others).
Technical aspects
Equilinox features cartoon-like and eye-catching visuals based on clearly visible polygons.
