Epic Astro Story is an economic strategy available on Android, in which players have to colonize a foreign planet. To this end, they collect raw materials, build structures and manage their budgets. It is also necessary to maintain diplomatic relations with aliens, to defend our own territories against invasion and to send people on discovery missions.
Epic Astro Story, released on AND and iOS, is a real-time economic strategy. It was developed by the Japanese studio Kairosoft, which specializes in this type of productions.
Plot
Epic Astro Story is set in a science fiction universe and it takes place in the unspecified but distant future - when mankind began conquering other solar systems. We play as a leader of a group whose aim is to colonize an unknown planet. When we start playing, the planet is completely unexplored and wild. Our ambition is to transform it into a vibrant civilization center, with a strong economy, a large population, and access to advanced technologies.
Mechanics
Epic Astro Story follows the gameplay mechanics typical for economic strategy games. We must obtain resources, construct buildings, conduct scientific research, develop the population and meet its needs. All this, of course, requires money, and that is why the right balance between income and expense plays a key role. The economic system is quite complicated and achieving good results requires a lot of effort.
However, our role isn't limited to the economic aspects. The world is also inhabited by alien civilizations. Some of them are friendly and will gladly establish diplomatic and commercial relations. Others are aggressive and will try to attack our territories. It is necessary to train an army capable of repelling such invasions. In addition, we can recruit the crew, move to a spacecraft and send on a quest to explore the galaxy. The adventures they will experience are funny parodies of the Star Trek series.
Technical aspects
Epic Astro Story offers nice 2D pixel graphics. The action is presented from an isometric view.
