Emergency is a mobile version of the popular PC strategy game series, where we take control of the local crisis management center and fight against the consequences of various accidents, catastrophes and natural disasters. The series was initiated in 1998 by German team at Sixteen Tons Entertainment and over the course of a dozen or so years, it has seen four major installments (and a version for Nintendo DS) and numerous updates. The same development team is also responsible for the mobile version of Emergency, which is not a port of any of the previous installments of the series and was developed from scratch with mobile users in mind.

Story

In accordance with the tradition of the series, during the game we take care of the local rescue center, which controls the police, fire brigade, medical rescue, and technical services. Our task is to combat the effects of various accidents, catastrophes, and natural disasters by dispatching appropriate units to action and providing assistance to the victims.

Mechanics

The mechanics of the mobile version of Emergency do not differ significantly from the solutions known from the full-fledged games of the series. The devs have put 13 different scenarios at the player's disposal, in which our main task is to send appropriate rescue units and perform certain activities on the scene of an accident or catastrophe. While playing, we face a variety of challenges, such as securing the scene of an accident and saving the lives of its victims, fighting raging fires and even liquidation of terrorists. A range of 18 units for various purposes - from classic police cars, ambulances or fire-fighting vehicles, to specialist units such as a vehicle with a swivel ladder, rescue helicopter, etc. - can be used as an aid.

It is also worth emphasizing that the action at the scene of the disaster is developing dynamically, so depending on the actions we take and their effectiveness, during each mission a whole series of unforeseen events may also occur, which pose an additional challenge for the player. The above solution also makes it possible for each of the missions available in the game to be performed in several different ways, and the players can approach the game many times, using different tactics and improving the score.

Technical aspects

The visuals of Emergency obviously deviate from the latest full-fledged installments of the series known from PCs and are much more reminiscent of previous parts in terms of style. However, the whole thing is realized in a clear and aesthetic way, and the main difference during the game is the touch control model created for mobile platforms.
