Eldest Souls Description
Eldest Souls is a two-dimensional RPG, whose gameplay refers to the popular Dark Souls series from FromSoftware. The game is set in a dark fantasy world on the edge of destruction. This is the debut project of the developers from Fallen Flag Studio. The publisher is CI Games (within the United Label publishing).
Plot
The Old Gods have been trapped for a long time. During their absence, humanity built a wonderful civilization. Unfortunately, just before their defeat, the gods cast a curse that began to ravage the world. With time, the meadows turned into deserts and the water dried up. Their armies defeated, the human kingdoms are in chaos. A lone warrior sets out for the Citadel, where the gods are imprisoned to destroy them once and for all.
Mechanics
Eldest Souls is an unusual two-dimensional RPG, in which the action is observed from top-down perspective. The game belongs to the souls-like sub-genre. This means that an important element of the game are battles against powerful bosses, and in addition, the title poses a big challenge to the player.
The game is about exploring the Citadel, the great maze in which the Old Gods are trapped. While wandering, we talk to NPCs and, above all, eliminate the deities we meet. By defeating them, we receive special powers that we can use in future fights. We also perform various additional tasks, thanks to which we improve the skills of the hero (and our own) and gain equipment.
Game modes
Eldest Souls can be played only solo.
Technical aspects
Eldest Souls features pleasant, two-dimensional visuals, which was prepared in the style of pixel art, so it refers to the classic 2D games of the 90s of the last century. An interesting artistic style deserves attention, despite relatively modest tools, which reflects the atmosphere of a dark fantasy world. The light effects accompanying individual attacks and spells are also attractive.
