[2:38] Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising launch trailer
TheSixthAxis: 8 / 10 by Miguel Moran
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising has a slow and snore-worthy opening hour, but hiding behind that repetitive introduction is an incredible blend of high-octane 2.5D combat and rewarding resource gathering gameplay. The icing on the cake, though, is the Marvel Cinematic Universe-worthy parade of character cameos and appearances that promise some of the many faces you'll be battling alongside (or maybe even against) once Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes comes out.
Nintendo Life: 5 / 10 by Lowell Bell
Do you enjoy waiting for public transit in the rain? Could you bear sitting next to a screaming toddler on a transatlantic flight? Do you think you'd derive pleasure from chopping down trees in the Great Forest over and over again until you had enough light lumber to fulfil three or four requests? If so, Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising has a delightful little adventure hidden beneath a lot of tedium just for you. If not, we wouldn't begrudge you for staying clear and hoping Hundred Heroes doesn't follow too closely in its predecessor's footsteps. This game certainly has charm, but it makes you work too hard for it.
Game Revolution: 8 / 10 by Jason Faulkner
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a hearty appetizer for Hundred Heroes. I think Natsume Atari accomplished its mission of giving players a taste of what the world of Hundred Heroes has to offer, and I’ve gotten less enjoyment out of much more expensive games. You can’t ask for much more for a budget title that was created as a stretch goal for a Kickstarter project.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising Description
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is an introduction to another game set in the same universe, namely Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. Game allows you to get to know the history of several characters, which in the continuation act as fully playable heroes, and combines it with sidescrolls, dynamic skirmishes and expansion of the city. Game was partly funded thanks to the successful campaign on Kickstarter and it was developed by Rabbit and Bear studio, which includes the creators of the famous Suikoden.
Plot
The game is set in a fantasy universe where humans, elves, beasts and desert people live side by side. Over the years, thanks to the alliances formed between them, they managed to maintain peace, although there were still acts of aggression. Rising, unlike other Eiyuden Chronicles, has several protagonists and focuses on telling the story of each of them before they take part in the upcoming war.
Mechanics
In this installment we focus on exploring the world and learning about the history of characters who will play a key role in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. However, there are also battles with various opponents, requiring from us a good sense of timing and dexterity, because they are quite dynamic. In addition, we will find here segments that allow us to expand the city.
Technical aspects
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising combines 2D and 3D graphics, which we observe from a side perspective, with a typical fantasy style.
Besides, the developers promise that by combining this part with Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, players can expect some minor bonuses.
