A strategy game/cRPG hybrid, created by a group of enthusiasts calling themselves Aterdux Entertainment. Eisenwald: Blood of November is a new edition of Legends of Eisenwald, featuring more open gameplay. The game takes us to a fantasy world that mixes the European medieval era with legends and myths from that period. The country is ravaged as a result of power struggle between warring factions.

Plot

The duke of Eisenwald, person that guaranteed the stability of the whole region, is dead. Now, a number of clans are bringing their petty disputes forward, destabilizing the region, while the throne itself is challenged by two powerful clans: Eisig, and Horn. With a feudal war looming on the horizon, our hero, one of the last ones who maintained neutrality, has to return the peace to Eisenwald.

The titular land was inspired by medieval realities, including the elements taken from texts and legends of that time. As a result, the game world incorporates a number of fantasy elements, while disciplines such as alchemy and divination thrive and flourish. The story has a non-linear character – the protagonist can tip the scales of the conflict, but he can do so in any way that he pleases – choosing the “right” side of the strife. The serious atmosphere has been softened by certain references to world politics, including 2016 United States elections.

Mechanics

Eisenwald: Blood of November for PC is based around exploration of an open world, completing various main and side tasks, and battling encountered enemies. The game incorporates a random event system and a non-linear set of quests, determined by our actions and choices – as a result, every playthrough looks different, and has a different outcome.

Traversing the country takes place in real time, while encounters are turn-based. Similarly to the previous edition, commanded units constantly accompany our hero, and we cannot control them during encounters. The player can decide only upon using items, and choosing the next target. The individual soldiers are upgraded through development trees, as well as by equipping them with right armor and weaponry.

Technical Aspects

Eisenwald: Blood of November is characterized by high quality, three-dimensional visuals. The environments are rich in detail, similarly to detailed unit models. The gameplay receives more depth thanks to the soundtrack, composed for the purposes of the game.
