EF2000 Description
EF2000 is another, after the F-29 Retaliator, realistic flight simulator, developed by Digital Image Design for the renowned French publisher Ocean. This time the programmers from the British studio focused on the EuroFighter 2000 fighter model.
The machine in question was developed within the framework of the Experimental Aircraft Program (EAP) created at the beginning of the 1980s. Created in a British-German cooperation and originally known as EFA, the aircraft is a kind of European response to the modern fighter models developed by the USA. It is supposed to supplant the commonly used in Europe, ageing models such as F-4 Phantom and F-104 Starfighter. The EF 2000 is a single-seater twin-engine fighter with the ability to attack ground targets. Designed to fight against Soviet fighters like MiG-29 or Su-27, it is characterized by exceptional speed and maneuverability.
The EF2000 is divided into three parts. The first one is a simulator, which allows players to train freely without any obligations, teaching them how to take off, land, refuel in the air and how to attack with particular types of weapons. The campaign prepared for the game takes us into the reality of a fictitious conflict with Russia, whose theatre is in Scandinavia, and the player's task is to defend the attacked Sweden. The third option is the Quick Combat variant, which allows you to play any combat mission. In online gameplay mode we can test our skills in skirmishes, in which up to 8 players can take part at the same time.
Due to the level of expansion, the EF2000 is intended for advanced players. Our fighter is equipped with a number of modern systems (such as DASS, JTIDS, IRST, TIALD or Radar ECR 90), and their efficient service requires long training. The game has a high playability and the monitor is attracted by an exceptionally good audio-visual setting.
In 1996, EF2000: Special Edition was released with the addition of TACTCOM, which, in addition to additional missions, also introduces a scenario editor, improved online gameplay, and published after the release of the original patches, transferring the game to the Windows 95 environment. A year later, American players received the EF2000 v 2.0 package, which included both versions of the game and the official add-on.
