Ed Hunter Description
Ed Hunter is a simple FPP shooter, based on lyrics, album covers, and music of the famous British heavy metal band Iron Maiden. The game was developed by Synthetic Dimensions studio and was released as part of a compilation album of the same title, containing 20 of the band's biggest hits, selected by fans voting on the band's official website.
Plot
In the game we play the role of a detective named Ed Hunter, hired to find and release Eddy - Iron Maiden's mascot. The action starts in London's East End district and leads us through the corridors of a gloomy hospital for the insane, hell itself and other nightmarish places. Along the way, we face different types of opponents with increasing difficulty, including typical street thugs as well as various monsters and devilish creatures.
Mechanics
Gameplay mechanics use solutions known from such series as Virtua Cop, The House of the Dead or Time Crisis. We observe the action from the eyes of the protagonist, and our character moves automatically along pre-established paths. From time to time, we can choose which direction we want to move. Our task is to eliminate opponents. The gameplay doesn't differ from the solution typical for the genre, and the only difference is the fact that the individual locations were inspired by the covers and lyrics of the songs of the band.
While playing any of the eight levels we can choose one of the songs of the band, which accompanies us throughout a given level. We can play solo or in the local cooperation mode.
