Eclipse: New Dawn for Galaxy is a 4X mobile space strategy released on iOS that is an adaptation of a board game under the same title. The production was developed by the Polish studio Big Daddy's Creations.
The action takes place in an unspecified but distant future, at a time when mankind has a large galactic empire and has established contact with many foreign civilizations. As soon as the game begins, the delicate peace between the different factions begins to burst and war seems inevitable.
Apart from people, there are also five alien races to choose from and each nation has different starting conditions and technologies. The game follows the typical paths of the 4X genre. In Eclipse: New Dawn for Galaxy we play the role of the ruler of a small galactic nation and our task is to transform it into a real empire. To achieve this, we must create colonies on foreign planets, develop economies and technologies, and wage wars with competitive factions controlled by artificial intelligence or other players.
There are six sides in the game and we choose which of them will control the AI and which will be taken over by other players. Artificial intelligence is at a very high level, which means that lonely play can provide a lot of emotions. An additional attraction is the possibility of far-reaching configuration of various elements of the game.
The game is an adaptation of the board game, but it has been developed in such a way that it looks and behaves like a typical mobile turtle, instead of slavishly reproducing the style and atmosphere of the paper prototype. We get a nice two-dimensional map of space, battles are shown in the form of simple but attractive animations, and the whole interface has been designed specifically for touch screens. Mastering the rules of the game is facilitated by extensive tutorials.
