Echo of Prypiat is an adventure FPP game in the "walking simulator" style - it is focused on exploration and on the narrative. The game was produced by the Ukrainian studio Chornozem Interactive.

Plot

The action of the game takes place in the Exclusion Zone around the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, which suffered a disaster in 1986, forcing the people living in the nearby city of Prypiat to evacuate immediately.

The game tells the story of Miller, who as a Canadian journalist came to Prypiat to firsthand gather material for his new publication. However, what he found there changed his plans for this expedition.

Gameplay

The core of the gameplay in Echo of Prypiat is the exploration of a vast and open world. On the journey, our guide, Ivanovich, accompanies us. He helps us navigate through the abandoned streets and buildings using a walkie-talkie.

In addition to walking around the Exclusion Zone and admiring the fauna and flora, many of the places are interactive. For example, we can use the slide in the playground or try to connect the power to turn on the lights in the old school.

Technical aspects

Thanks to the use of the Unreal Engine 5 and Lumen lighting technology, the title boasts a beautiful world with rich flora and fauna.

The realism of the game is also enhanced by the use of real plans of Prypiat. They helped in recreating buildings with a real layout of rooms and known locations, such as: Prypiat School No. 5 or Kindergarten No. 3 "Sonechko" ("Sunshine").
