Duck Detective: The Secret Salami is a humorous adventure game with a detective flair. The game was developed by the independent studio Happy Broccoli Games, which has in its portfolio, among others, the genre-related game Kraken Academy!!.
The authors argue that although their project treats the theme of conducting investigations with a wink, their main sources of inspiration were the games Return of the Obra Dinn and The Case of the Golden Idol.
Plot
In Duck Detective: The Secret Salami we play the titular duck detective. When the protagonist finds the trail of a sinister sausage conspiracy, he has to face his biggest case yet. Without thinking too long, the hero begins an investigation to identify the suspect and bring them to justice.
Mechanics
In Duck Detective: The Secret Salami we watch the action from a bird's eye view. The story in the game lasts from 2 to 3 hours and leads us through various locations - from gloomy streets and parking lots, to the interiors of office buildings. While traversing these places, we meet various characters and subject them to interrogations. During the latter, we must focus not only on what our interlocutors say, but also on how they behave and look.
In this way, we gather useful tips and also obtain valuable evidence. Based on the information obtained, we can fill in the gaps in the investigation documentation, step by step getting closer to identifying the criminal, and consequently - to unraveling the titular salami secret.
Technical aspects
The graphic design of Duck Detective: The Secret Salami is maintained in a cartoon style. The characters are presented in the form of two-dimensional sprites, which look like stickers.
