Mechanics

Dragon Star Varnir is a quite classic jRPG production. Players get to explore the world together with their team. With this company, once has to complete quests, fight different opponents, and gradually discover the main plot. As the game progresses, players also develop their heroes and acquire new equipment for them.

An interesting element implemented into Idea Factory's game is the combat system, which allows players to move in all three dimensions (also up and down) and puts great emphasis on the appropriate location of individual heroes - for example, moving one's hero below or over an opponent may allow this character to gain tactical advantage.

In the game players will also find mechanics allowing them to turn into dragons (to do this, one first has to perform normal attacks for some time). Transformation unlocks powerful abilities. Interestingly enough, heroes can get access to different transformations, offering a variety of possibilities - to do so, players have to devour the essence of defeated dragons.

Another intriguing idea is to feed the dragon witch with blood. What is interesting, it is necessary to be careful here - by feeding their characters with blood, players increase their power, but if they too much of it, they can go crazy and turn into a dragon. This will unlock new skills and items, but will also affect the end of the game.

Game modes

Dragon Star Varnir can only be played in a single-player mode.

Technical aspects

Dragon Star Varnir offers decent-quality 3D visuals. The artistic style of this game was developed to resemble an animated series. The character models are detailed and interestingly designed. Locations don't look so bad either.
