Dragon Bros is a shoot'em up game developed by the independent Space Lizard Studio. Among other platforms, the game is available on PC and XONE.
Plot
In the game, a player assumes control over young dragons tasked with fighting an army of hostile robots called Mechaliches, who after surviving the downfall of an advanced alien civilization, were able to conquer the protagonist's home planet, defile their home, and kidnap their mother. The protagonists are left with no other choice but to go to a war with the invaders and save their mother.
Mechanics
In the PC and XONE release of Dragon Bros, a player observes the action from the side-perspective. During the game, one continuously moves rightwards, eliminates hordes of enemies, and avoids the ever-present obstacles. The enemies include both minor units attacking in groups (such as the flying vehicles bombing the main protagonists and enemies trying to kill the main protagonists from a safe distance), and powerful bosses armed to the teeth.
Of course, one's protégés are not unarmed – they acquire new power-ups allowing them to use machine guns, laser weapons, and cannons. Moreover, as one progresses through the game, he acquires points giving him access to various special abilities assigned to each separate weapon – these include larger pieces of ammunition, bullets bouncing off the elements of the environment, as well as increased power and range.
Game modes
Dragon Bros for PC and XONE allows a player to enjoy both single and cooperative local multiplayer modes. Interestingly enough, completed stages of the game can be replayed, e.g. to achieve a higher score – moreover, one can test his skills by playing the game on a higher difficulty level.
Technical aspects
Dragon Bros for PC and XONE delivers old-school 2D pixel-art visuals, well accompanied by the dedicated soundtrack written by Gabriel Caruso, who in his works combines modern sound with chiptune music.
