Down the Mountain Description
Down the Mountain, released on iOS and AND, is an endless runner with infinite gameplay. The production was developed by an independent studio Umbrella, associated primarily with the successful Boom Dots. The title is available in a free-to-play model with optional microtransactions.
Mechanics
In Down the Mountain, inspired by the classic Q*Bert, we play the character descending down a collapsing and randomly generated slope. The goal of the game is, of course, to make as many moves as possible before we are absorbed by nothingness or fall into one of the many obstacles.
These traps play an important role in Down the Mountain. We are disturbed by rapid streams, trees, spikes protruding from the ground, lava coming out of the mountain, mines, animals inhabiting the slope or cars.
Besides a good score, we also need to collect as many stars as possible. They are used to unlock over 60 alternative characters. However, they differ only in appearance, so unlocking them is not necessary to enjoy the fun.
Technical aspects
The graphics in Down the Mountain aren't advanced but they still look good. They bring to mind one of the biggest mobile hits - Crossy Road. The control system is as simple as possible, so you can successfully play the game with one finger.
