Doom 3: BFG Edition Description
Eight years after the release of Doom 3, id Software's development team, led by John Carmack, decided to prepare a special version of their hit, re-mastered for the technical capabilities of seventh generation consoles (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3). The Vanilla edition was used as a base for the author's modifications, and the creators made sure that the changes in the audio-visual setting were not the only ones.
The plot of the Doom 3 BFG Edition only slightly differs from the original. Single player mode allows you to take on the role of a marine infantry soldier who tries to survive in a research center on Mars and close an interstellar portal accidentally opened by scientists, from where the beasts are getting out. The only major change in this aspect is The Lost Mission campaign consisting of seven new levels.
The gameplay is based on classic first-person shooter solutions. The hero moves through locations full of lurking monsters, exterminating enemies with a large arsenal. With console players in mind, the creators of the BFG edition decided to modify the in-game controls for greater comfort of use of pads. The checkpoint system was also completely rebuilt.
Significant changes have been made to the audio-visual setting. The id Software team has remodelled the lighting system from scratch, giving players the opportunity to use tactical light, i.e. flashlights attached to the hero's suit. Thanks to the improved rendering module it was also possible to use higher resolution textures, which resulted in the final quality of the graphics. The developers of Doom 3 BFG Edition also took care of such elements as support for 3D stereoscopic technology and 5.1 surround sound systems.
In addition to the main game and the Resurrection of Evil expansion, the package includes the first two installments of the cycle - Doom and Doom 2, so that players can get to know the whole saga.

Doom Series
FPS series being one of the forerunners of the first-person shooter genre. The series was created by id Software studio and has, so to speak, three "fathers" - John Carmack, John Romero and Tom Hall. Nevertheless, over the years, teams such as Midway Games and Nerve Software have also been involved in its development. Although the series made its debut on personal computers, over time it began to make its presence increasingly clear also on consoles, as well as on mobile devices.
