Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality is a spin-off of a VR adventure game called Doctor Who: The Edge of Time. The Just Add Water studio, known for Ice Age: Scrat's Nutty Adventure, is responsible for developing a game based on Doctor Who licence, a popular British science fiction TV series. The publisher is Maze Theory, the developers of the previous game in the series.
Plot
Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality continues the story initiated in Doctor Who: The Edge of Time. The protagonists of the game are two incarnations of the Doctor - thirteenth (Jodie Whittaker) and tenth (David Tennant), who must discover the evil spreading in the universe and stop it from destroying the universe.
Mechanics
Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality develops ideas known from Doctor Who: The Edge of Time, but the gameplay itself has been significantly changed and adapted to play without the virtual reality sets. During the adventure which we observe from the first person perspective, we explore completely new worlds filled with puzzles and challenges.
The game features motifs and monsters known from both newer episodes of the BBC series and older episodes featuring David Tennant. During the game we face, among others, Cybermen, cyborgs existing in the series from its very beginning. There is no shortage of easter eggs in production for the biggest fans.
Technical aspects
Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality, unlike the previous game, was not developed for VR devices. The doctors have been dubbed by the actors in the series, Jodie Whittaker and David Tennant.
