Divided We Fall

Divided We Fall for PC (formerly known as Call of Combat) is a World War II themed multiplayer-oriented tactical game. The players, working as a part of the same faction, have to cooperate in order to complete the strategic goals allocated by the leader. The game was developed by KAVA Game Studio.

Mechanics

The action of Divided We Fall for PC takes place during World War II. We begin the game by choosing a faction and taking over a four-man team that is sent to take part in combat. In opposition to other online strategy games, the battlefield can be joined by even up to fifty players at once, with 1v1 battles being also a viable gameplay option. Depending on the chosen side, the orders of each team may contradict each other. For example, one team may receive the task to defend a given position, while the other team has to capture the same point at all costs. In both cases, team-based cooperation is the key to success – the players are encouraged to follow their orders and work as a team.

The action is seen from an isometric view, but some of the players have the ability to see the battlefield from a more tactically viable position, a feature only available for the leaders. The commanders are chosen based on their experience levels, as their mission is to lead their own team, as well as coordinate the actions of the remaining units and decide upon the further course of the action. Other players also have their hands full – even if they are not be responsible for the overall strategy, the individual units can employ a number of advanced tactics, such as flanking or defense in depth. The game takes place in real time.

Technical Aspects

Divided We Fall begun its existence in 2002 as Call of Combat. After 10 years of server life, the authors decided to close the project and create an improved edition that will utilize the processing power of modern PCs. As a result, the game received new graphics and improved animations of both soldiers and vehicles.
