Disruptor is the debut project of the Insomniac Games studio. The production that appeared on the PS1 console represents the FPS genre and draws heavily on the mechanics developed by the first Doom.
Story
The action of Disruptor takes place in the future. The player takes on the role of Jack Curtis, a member of the LightStormer Corps military unit, the goal of which is to neutralize the dangers that are threatening humanity. Over the course of thirteen missions, we see the protagonist gradually climbing up the career ladder ... at least until the discovery of a government conspiracy.
Mechanics
In Disruptor, which was released on the PS1 platform, the action is shown from the first person perspective (FPP). The gameplay revolves around traversing different, futuristic locations and fighting adversaries. Jack uses not only firearms on the battlefield but also supernatural abilities granted to him by special implants. Thanks to these implants he can regenerate damaged health, use lightning strikes against opponents, create an energy shield to protect himself or even eliminate enemies with the help of a devastating attack called Terablast.
Technical issues
Disruptor has three-dimensional graphics, which at the time of the premiere were of a very high level; the cutscenes were made by using the FMV technique. The gameplay is accompanied by a soundtrack created by David Bergeaud. Additionally, it should be added that the production was initially created with the 3DO console in mind.
