Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt is a special educational mode for Assassin's Creed Origins, which has been made available for the owners of this production in the form of a free DLC. It has also been released as a standalone, purchasable position, which does not require the ownership of the vanilla version of the game. The title has been designed based on the tutelage which the Ubisoft company workers have received from historians and Egyptologists.

Mechanics

Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt lacks any type of plot, combat or restrictions that you will encounter in Assassin's Creed Origins. Instead, the developers allow the player to experience a virtual journey through the Ptolemaic Egypt, and to discover various curiosities about the ancient empire of the pharaohs. The content of the title has been further expanded to include behind-the-scenes material, which will allow the players to peek into the game’s development process.

During the playthrough, the player takes control over one of the twenty-five available heroes and partakes in seventy five thematic expeditions. The journeys in question will deliver a lot of information concerning the daily life of the ancient people who inhabited the lands around the Nile; they will also provide a lot of information about historical figures, monumental structures and the mummification process. The player can either travel on foot (by climbing various elements of the surrounding area and jumping between them in an agile, parkour fashion), on horseback or via a boat. There is also nothing standing in the way of marvelling at the sights of ancient Egypt from a bird’s-eye view or from the first-person perspective (by default the camera is set behind the protagonist’s back). Furthermore, the developers have granted the players a range of simplifications, in order to increase the comfort of the gameplay – the path of every expedition is highlighted, and travelling vast distances has been made simpler due to the introduction of a quick travel system.

Technical aspects

The 3D graphics of Discovery Tour by Assassin’s Creed: Ancient Egypt have remained unchanged compared to the vanilla version of Assassin’s Creed Origins.
