Diablo II: Lord of Destruction for PC is the first official expansion pack for the best-selling action RPG Diablo II. It was developed by Blizzard North. The expansion continues the story of the fight against the three powerful Prime Evils that threaten the world of Sanctuary. After defeating Mephisto and Diablo, players will have to face the titular Lord of Destruction, Baal.
A year after the release of Diablo II Blizzard North developed an official add-on that introduces a new chapter to the base game’s story, new classes, items, and some technical improvements.
The Plot
The plot of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction for PC continues the thread of fighting with the Prime Evils. After defeating Mephisto and Diablo, our hero has to face the third of the powerful demons, Baal. It turns out that Lord of Destruction have gathered an army of demons and besieged the Harrogath fortress that is located at the base of mount Arreat, where the legendary Worldstone lies hidden.
In addition to the new chapter of the story and a new area, the expansion introduces two new playable characters, Assassin and Druid. Blizzard North, lead by Peter Breivik, also included many new types of weapons and armors in Lord of Destruction. This add-on also added many other things to the base game, like the magical runes that can be placed in items with sockets, items with a chance of casting a spell while they are being used, new Horadric Cube combinations, or new quests and monsters to kill. The capacity of our storage box was also increased.
Technical Aspects
Diablo II: Lord of Destruction for PC comes with the possibility of changing the game’s resolution from VGA (640x480) to SVGA (800x600), making the visuals more detailed and giving us a better field of view. Just like in the previous Diablo games, The expansion’s soundtrack was composed by Matt Uelmen.
