Dethroned! PC

Dethroned! is a MOBA type network battle game enriched with strong elements of tower defense strategy. The project was developed by Treehouse studio.

The production is focused mainly on multiplayer games, but it also offers a traditional feature campaign mode, which is not only an extensive tutorial. The action was set in a land inspired by old fairy tales and folk tales. When starting the game, we choose a hero from an extensive gallery of heroes; each of them has its own fighting style and a unique set of skills. Then, together with several other users, we form a small team and start a battle with a similarly hostile group of enemies. Our goal is to reach the enemy base and steal all torches from the throne there. At the same time, enemies try to do exactly the same.

The project simplifies MOBA mechanisms, focusing on instant battles and easy to master control. However, unlike many other games that use a similar solution, Dethroned compensates for these changes with a significant reinforcement of strategic elements. Occupying land and killing enemies is rewarded with gold, which we spend on recruiting allied units. Their behaviour is governed by artificial intelligence, but for this we get the possibility to choose the type of soldiers to be trained. In addition, the construction of buildings plays a key role. This aspect resembles tower defense productions - it is necessary to man the march route of enemies in such a way as to inflict the maximum amount of damage on them. Of course, we can improve both the units and the defence structures.

Achieving victories requires good cooperation with teammates, proper use of the hero's special skills and efficient management of the strategic aspect of the game. Omitting even one of these three elements usually quickly leads to a failure to face better organized competition.
