Desert Operations is the work of developers from a German plaizo studio. The game was released by Looki Publishing as one of the titles available on the Looki.com platform, which offers a number of similar browser-based productions (including Empire Universe 2 and Space Pioneers 2).

In Desert Operations players take control of a small country. The basis of the game is the development of the infrastructure of one's own country, the creation of an army, and then military and territorial expansion.

Players can build three types of facilities in their area - production facilities (increasing the growth of resources: oil, gold, money and ammunition), actions (allowing, among other things, to develop technologies, manage bank accounts and give orders) and military (used to create land, air and sea units, as well as defence units). The space limit means that the number and type of buildings to be erected should be carefully considered.

The construction of an army allows for the beginning of war struggles, including attacking other players' countries. An important element of military operations in this case is to conduct effective intelligence operations and appropriate protection of their properties.

Belonging to an alliance can be a great help in the game. Allied players can support each other by carrying out offensive and defensive actions together. Allies wage wars, coalitions and non-aggression pacts. Consequently, the choice of the right covenant also determines the "friends" and "enemies" on the map.

Desert Operations is based mainly on the text layer (messages, statistics), so the audio-visual setting of the game, although quite attractive, is only a "decoration".

The game is distributed on a free-to-play basis and its business model is based on a microtransaction system. For some options (e.g. speeding up the time of inventing the technology) you have to pay with "diamonds". - a special currency offered for real money.
