Demon's Tilt is an arcade game inspired by flippers, which was enriched with solutions taken from the bullet hell shooters. The game is a result of cooperation between the independent Wiznwar studio and Flarb.
Mechanics
In Demon's Tilt, the action takes place on the pinball table shown from top-down view. It is large enough to be divided into three segments. Our main task is to reflect the metal ball by means of moving paws located at the base of each part of the table. The camera follows the ball smoothly, and at certain moments approaches it, presenting the action in an impressive way.
As it is the case with classic flippers, by hitting certain elements of the board and preventing the ball from falling out through the hole underneath the lowest paws, we gain points, and the longer the ball is in motion, the greater their multiplier. But this is not the end of the story, as the battle against the bosses also plays an important role here. It is not easy to defeat them, as they are often surrounded by smaller adversaries; besides, the enemies shoot us regularly, which sometimes makes the screen swarm with bullets. The fact that, in addition to the ramps that accelerate the ball or the elements from which it bounces at high speed, mechanical traps are also placed on the table does not make things any easier.
The gameplay is varied by rituals, i.e. special (and really hard) tasks, which are unlocked by a special mode called Wizard Mode. In addition, there are bonus tables of smaller sizes, which can be accessed if certain conditions are met.
Game modes
Demon's Tilt only allows you to play alone. A substitute for the multiplayer mode are online rankings, where we can show off our achievements.
Technical aspects
Demon's Tilt graphic design was maintained in a dark, gothic retro style, reminiscent of the titles that triumphed on Sega Saturn, PlayStation and Neo-Geo. The table has been made with attention to small details; visual effects accompanying the ball's bouncing can also be enjoyed. The gameplay is accompanied by a soundtrack made with the Sega Mega Drive platform technique.
