Deep State PC

Deep State is a first-person action game that combines the mechanics and atmosphere of FPS games from the 1990s with elements of the immersive sim genre. The game is the debut project of the independent studio Frogman Interactive.

Plot

The action takes place in an alternative version of the first decade of this century. The player takes on the role of former CIA agent Rex Cutter, who will have to thwart the dark plans of a mysterious organization. What's worse, many indications suggest that this group includes Cutter's former partner, who until now was believed to be dead.

The plot of the game was inspired by old action movies and spy productions, and the story is told with a slight wink.

Mechanics

Deep State is a first-person action game. The campaign consists of a series of missions taking place in various corners of the world. In each of them, we have specific objectives to achieve, and the gameplay provides a great deal of freedom in choosing the methods of how we will complete them.

The player can opt for direct combat, using a rich arsenal of firearms. A stealth approach is also possible, in which we avoid detection and quietly eliminate enemies. There is also nothing to prevent us from freely mixing both methods.

The maps are large and designed to offer several alternative paths to each destination. The game puts a strong emphasis on careful exploration, which is rewarded with useful items and the discovery of alternative quest solutions.

RPG elements also enrich the overall experience. We collect experience points during missions, which we then use to improve the hero's skills in aspects such as sneaking, hacking computer systems, or lockpicking.

Game modes

The game offers only a singleplayer mode.

Technical aspects

Deep State features three-dimensional graphics in a retro style, modeled on PC FPS games from 2000-2003.
