An FPS horror inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft. The action of Decadent takes place during the 1920s in the Arctic. Our hero must face hostile people and creatures out of this world. Aside from killing enemies it's also important to maintain a healthy mental state.
Decadent is an FPS with horror elements, set in a universe inspired by the works of H.P. Lovecraft. The game was developed by Incantation Games studio.
Plot
The action of Decadent is set in an alternative version of the 1920s. The main character of the game is John Lorn, a royal explorer, a veteran of World War I, and also an occultist, in whose body a mysterious parasite has nested. Following the trail of the missing Miskatonic University expedition, the protagonist finds himself in the Arctic, where he tries to find his son. He has to face dangers not of this world in this place. They will test both his survival skills and the strength of his mind.
Mechanics
In Decadent we watch events from a first-person perspective (FPP). Adventure leads us through various locations - from tundra, glaciers and high cliffs, to the darkness-shrouded underground, ancient necropolises or ancient mounds. In addition to this, from time to time we come across places suspended between dimensions, remnants of ancient experiments.
While traversing them, we face numerous threats - aggressive people (members of hostile mountain tribes), as well as hybrid water creatures and other terrifying monsters stand in our way. We eliminate enemies by making use of a rich arsenal that includes both conventional pistols and rifles, as well as more inventive weapons with magical and occult properties.
When facing dangers, we must pay attention not only to the protagonist's health, but also to his mental condition. When the mental state begins to deteriorate, he may experience hallucinations or panic attacks. We develop the character as we progress. Collecting mysterious artifacts allows us to increase his combat potential.
