God is a Geek: 9 / 10 by Sean Smith
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a stunning remaster, taking a beloved game and making it relevant and vital for modern players.
One More Game: 8 / 10 by Chris Garcia
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a fine example of Capcom's understanding as to which aspects of a game to improve without tampering with what made it good in the first place. There are substantial improvements here, almost blurring the line of being marketed as just a remaster.
Niche Gamer: 7 / 10 by Fingal Belmont
The content cuts are disappointing and censorship is inexcusable, yet the core of Dead Rising is still appealing. This is fine if you’re a child who is getting used to gaming. The overhauled visuals and low bar to entry make it easy for kids and grandma to get into. There is not a lot for fans of the original. Unfortunately, the non-deluxe classic Dead Rising is still the definitive experience.
The main pros of the game
- Modern Graphics: The remaster features significantly upgraded graphics and visuals that enhance the overall experience, making it visually appealing compared to the original.
- Quality of Life Improvements: Players appreciate the smoother controls, improved survivor AI, and the addition of autosaves, making the game more accessible and enjoyable.
- Replayability: The game retains high replay value with its sandbox-style gameplay, allowing players to approach missions in various ways.
- Nostalgia Factor: Long-time fans of the series find joy in revisiting a beloved classic with modern enhancements, while newcomers can enjoy a polished introduction to the franchise.
- New Content: Some players noted the inclusion of new skill books and other minor additions that enrich the gameplay experience.
The main cons of the game
- Performance Issues: Many users reported crashes, bugs, and optimization problems, leading to frustrating gameplay experiences.
- Difficulty Changes: The game has been criticized for being too easy compared to the original, with several mechanics and enemy encounters feeling less challenging.
- Censorship: Some players expressed disappointment over the removal of certain mature themes and content, feeling that it detracted from the game's original satirical nature.
- Mixed Voice Acting: The new voice actors received mixed reviews, with some feeling that they did not capture the charm of the original characters.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- Original Content: The removal of the "Erotica" photography points and some character changes (like Larry the Butcher) were noted as significant omissions that affected the game's original tone and humor.
- Difficulty Balance: Players felt that the game lost some of its challenge, making it feel more like a casual experience rather than the intense survival horror they remembered.
- Technical Issues: Several bugs and glitches from the original game persist, and new ones have been introduced, affecting the overall enjoyment and playability.
- Narrative Depth: Some users felt that changes to character dialogues and interactions reduced the depth and satirical commentary that characterized the original game.
Summary
- In summary, while Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster offers a visually appealing and more accessible experience with modern controls and features, it faces criticism for performance issues, censorship, and a perceived loss of the original's charm and challenge.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Description
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is a thoroughly refreshed version of the popular action game from 2006. The development and release of this remaster was handled by Capcom, a company that has been overseeing the brand from the beginning.
Plot
Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster takes us to the fictional American town of Willamette, Colorado, which for unknown reasons has been quarantined and cut off from the world by the United States Army. Sensation-seeking reporter Frank West arrives at the scene and quickly discovers that a zombie apocalypse has broken out here, and those who managed to survive have taken refuge in the local shopping mall. From now on, the journalist has 72 hours to conduct an investigation and discover the truth about the events that took place here before the evacuation begins.
Gameplay
In Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). The game gives us an entire shopping mall at our disposal and it we can explore it freely, getting to know the characters hiding there and completing tasks for them, conducting journalistic investigations, gradually discovering fragments of the main plot and finally fighting various opponents. Among the latter the living dead are the main focus, but there is also no shortage of psychopaths with whom we have to fight.
We can use virtually anything we can find in the mall stores we visit - from toys and sports equipment (such as baseball bats), through furniture and electronics, to construction tools (like hammers) and finally melee weapons and firearms. When punching or shooting at adversaries, we must remember that melee weapons deteriorate over time, while pistols and rifles can be thrown away once their magazines are empty.
Additionally, the game offers a wide range of clothing items that Frank West can put on. Among them we can find various types of masks, overalls and uniforms. The shopping center is also a place to find books that provide us with various bonuses, food and drinks that regenerate the hero's health, as well as basically useless items implemented here only for humorous purposes, such as a replica of Megabuster from the Mega Man series, which shoots tennis balls.
As befits a journalist, Frank also has a camera with him, with which he can immortalize the events in which he takes part, as well as the creatures he faces. In exchange for taking photos and performing other actions, the protagonist collects so-called Prestige Points and gains subsequent levels. With each promotion, Frank's strength, speed, resistance to damage, or even endurance increases.
The passage of time plays an important role here - depending on how we manage to complete the investigation within 72 hours (in-game time passes about twelve times faster than real time), we can unlock one of the available endings.
New engine and other improvements
Compared to the original, Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster stands out thanks to a series of improvements. The authors enriched the game with automatic saves, modified the controls, improved the interface, and also ensured full sound effects for dialogues.
Moreover, the remaster runs on RE Engine, which previously powered a number of games from the Resident Evil series or Dragon's Dogma II project.
