Dead End Job is a cooperative twin stick shooter, in which, learning the secrets of the work of a ghost tamer, we set off into the field and clear locations of various paranormal creatures. A small Edinburgh-based studio, Ant Workshop, is responsible for the game.
Plot
In the game we play the role of an employee of Ghoul-B-Gone, the number one company (as it advertises itself), dealing with the disposal of all supernatural beings. Hector Plasm, whom we control, like on his every normal working day, packs the necessary equipment and sets off to get rid of unwanted guests from various places. The more efficient he is, the better; after all who wouldn't want to get promoted one day?
However, such mundane matters as vision of a better salary and a better social status are nothing in the case of an urgent matter related to the protagonist's boss. It is on our shoulders to find a way to save her soul from spending eternity as a ghost.
Mechanics
Dead End Job can be played in single player mode, as well as in local cooperation mode.
By playing the role of paranormal creature slayer, we get rid of them from our world with weapons and tools adapted to this job. These are divided into various types of creatures, among which, in addition to the usual opponents, there are also powerful bosses, with unique powers and attacks. The combat itself takes place in small locations, observed from above, which requires dexterity from us.
In Dead End Job we visit various locations, from cemeteries, dilapidated cellars and attics to restaurants and houses.
Technical aspects
The game supports streaming platforms like Twitch and Mixer, giving viewers the ability to influence the choices and make the streamer.
Dead End Job supports keyboard and mouse controls in single player mode, but in co-op games it is required that one player use a gamepad.
Music for the game is the responsibility of Will Morton, the author of the soundtrack to the Grand Theft Auto series. The soundtrack perfectly emphasizes the cartoonish style and atmosphere of the 90s, full of humor and references to pop culture.
