A production combining elements of horror, adventure, and role-playing games developed by the independent studio Arif Games. The player assumes the role of a nameless amnesiac who appeared in a dark, medieval-like land. Our goal is not only to learn his identity but also to solve the mystery surrounding our mysterious presence in the unknown land.
Dark Fear, released on PC, AND and iOS, combines adventure and RPG elements and is set in a horror fantasy universe. The project was developed by Arif Games studio.
Plot
The beginning of the story in Dark Fear is rather typical - we wake up in an unknown place, we don't remember who we are or how we got here. It soon turns out that we are in dark fantasy land, combining medieval era with atrocities taken straight from the horror stories.
Our task is to discover the truth about the hero and the events that brought him to this place.
Mechanics
In terms of gameplay mechanics, Dark Fear combines elements of adventure and RPG games. The first genre was used for careful exploration of small locations, collection of objects and solving numerous complicated logical puzzles.
These classic adventure mechanisms are enriched with RPG elements. We get a lot of freedom in traveling around the world, we have to hunt to get food, fight using the combat mechanics and develop our character with the progression system. In addition, the game is very non-linear and our decisions have an impact on which allies we gain and how the whole story will end.
Technical aspects
Dark Fear was made in a retro style, modeled on PC from 1980s. The game also features a soundtrack emphasizing the atmosphere.
