A first-person action game, inspired by Quarantine from 1994. Our primary goal in CyberTaxi: Lunatic Nights is to drive the taxi and transport passengers in a futuristic Prison City metropolis. We can improve our taxi using mechanical & visual upgrades and also deal with unique tasks, like carrying sensitive cargo.
CyberTaxi: Lunatic Nights is an action game in which we play as a taxi driver working in a cyberpunk metropolis. The game was made in a style reminiscent of the thematically similar Quarantine from 1994 and it expands on the ideas from CyberTaxi released in 2020. The project is backed by the Polish studio Hed Media Games, founded by Szymon Liebert (former editor of GRYOnLine and tvgry websites) and his brother Filip (also known from the tvgry website).
Story
The main character of CyberTaxi: Lunatic Nights ends up in Prison City - a dark metropolis of the future overrun by lawlessness. He intends to find his sister, who has been wrongfully accused and imprisoned. The protagonist decides to become a taxi driver, which will allow him to get to know this place inside out.
Gameplay
In CyberTaxi: Lunatic Nights, the action is viewed from a first-person perspective (FPP). We spend most of our time behind the wheel of a car, which serves us not only as a means of transport, but also as a work tool.
Duties of a taxi driver
Our primary task is to transport people from point A to point B. Each passenger has an individual mood, to which we should adjust our driving style. Moreover, many clients offer additional tasks, such as finding lost keys or searching for a missing cat, or eliminating bandits residing in an abandoned school.
There are also tasks involving the transport of delicate loads (like pizza or a ship in a bottle), requiring us to drive calmly. We are allowed to get out of the car at any time. We can grab a weapon to explore a given area or take direct part in a shootout.
Fighting bandits and tuning our taxi
In a place like Prison City, every ride can turn into a fight for life. Therefore, the game allows us to mount melee weapons and firearms on the car, which are used to eliminate bandits standing in our way. Apart from machine guns, plasma cannons or flamethrowers, we can also make use of spikes, while the resistance of our machine is increased by shields.
Mechanical and optical tuning was also implemented. Mechanical changes allow us to tune the car and increase its performance, while the visual ones - to customize its appearance according to individual preferences. Special mention should be made to the fuel and battery indicators, which should be taken care of so that the car does not stop working at the least expected moment.
