Curse of the Azure Bonds is the second installment in the cRPG series based on the rules of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, set in the fantasy world of Forgotten Realms. Compared to the first game, Pool of Radiance, the gameplay mechanics and game engine have been significantly changed. There are new character classes to choose from, for example a paladin and a ranger, while the old ones were also modified, thanks to which a thief may now use bows and cleric can use the mix of staff and sling as both ranged and melee weapon.
The story revolves around a party of adventurers that set out to the city of Tiverton in search of a missing princess, Nacacia. Ambushed on their way by invisible enemies, they lose all their equipment and reach their destination barely alive. Once they have recovered, it turns out that each of the party members has five azure symbols on their right arms, tattooed deeper under the skin than ordinary tattoos. Now, the party has to uncover what is happening in Tiverton and its surroundings by talking to the citizens and fighting monsters.
