Crusader Kings III: All Under Heaven is the fourth major expansion for the strategy game titled Crusader Kings III, released in 2020. The add-on that takes us towards East Asia. It was developed by the authors of the base version of the game, namely the Paradox Development Studio team.
New features in the expansion
Crusader Kings III: All Under Heaven expands the game's world map to include territories of China, Japan, and Southeast Asia. Each of them is specific in its own way.
China
The new Hegemony title is associated with China, providing us with undisputed power over all empires in this region, as well as a dynastic cycle, through which stabilization periodically alternates with chaos, leading to regular changes in the local political landscape.
The Middle Kingdom is also a meritocracy, which is a political system that ensures influence and recognition depending on the merits of actions taken and research conducted. The imperial treasury also remains significant, which we can use to expand the country's borders or save it from disasters.
Japan
Playing on the side of Japan, we can test ourselves in court politics. By plotting intrigues, organizing ceremonies, forming alliances or waging wars, we gradually strengthen our position in order to ultimately achieve the rank of shogun or regent kampaku. The add-on also allows us to lead the imperial Yamato clan.
Southeast Asia
The last place on the list of areas available to us in Crusader Kings III: All Under Heaven is occupied by Southeast Asia. As a devaraja, we can rule based on the mandala system and unite our vassals, creating true empires. As a tributary, however, we can carry out fief missions and pay tribute to the divine king, ensuring his favor and recognition from the subjects.
Other new features
The icing on the cake is the Silk Road. Its presence provides various benefits (not only to the Chinese). Additionally, the expansion brings new historical tabs, as well as throne rooms, traditions, and events.
Technical aspects
Crusader Kings III: All Under Heaven is a non-standalone expansion, so it requires the base version of Crusader Kings III.
