Crisis in the Kremlin: The Cold War Description
Crisis in the Kremlin: The Cold War is a political strategy game created by an independent studio Nostalgames, consisting of two people - an Uzbek and a Ukrainian. The game is based on Crisis in the Kremlin from 1991. We move to the USSR in the last decade of its existence and undertake the challenge of leading the country out of crisis.
Plot
We start in the 1980s and The Soviet Union is facing collapse. Some see its future in returning to the past, others in cautious reforms, and there is also a group of people who desire radical changes. The challenge of leading the country out of crisis is undertaken by the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, who we control. In Crisis in the Kremlin: The Cold War, not everyone is supportive of our actions, and traitors lurk within the Kremlin itself.
Gameplay
Crisis in the Kremlin: The Cold War has us managing the Soviet Union. We have a world map and a series of documents at our disposal. Having chosen one of the authentic leaders and the year of action, we make decisions that affect the future of the country. It depends on them whether the USSR will follow the path of neo-imperialism, or introduce free elections, perestroika or capitalism, and what relations with the USA and NATO will look like.
Having control over the state budget and overseeing domestic policy, we adjust legislation, implement economic reforms, and conduct scientific research.
The decisions we make also affect relations with foreign countries. The diplomacy options in Crisis in the Kremlin: The Cold War allow us to interfere in the course of international events. We can also try to revive historical countries or create new ones and establish a united world state. The creators implemented proxy wars, as well as the option to conquer the Moon and Mars.
Engine
Crisis in the Kremlin: The Cold War runs on the Unity engine.
