Crazy Killer for PC is a multiplayer quiz game inspired by a popular party game known as Mafia. The game is a free-to-play title released thanks to the InCubator program launched by Gaijin Entertainment and aimed at financing independent games. Crazy Killer was developed by InoCo - an experienced Russian team known for Fantasy Wars, Majesty 2 and the Warlock series.
Mechanics
The game is set in near future, in a virtual program known as Crazy Killer. At the beginning of a round, each player is assigned a random role, becoming the Killer, the Sheriff or a Civilian - each has a goal of their own. Similar to the Mafia party game mentioned above, the Sheriff's task is to identify the KIller, Civilian has to survive and the Killer's job is to eliminate everyone else before someone detects them. Players are not aware of others' identities and the participants begin each round with different, often confusing character skins, thus nobody has an easy task here. The Killer can be disguised as a housewife or a hipster, thus potential threats have to be avoided and extreme caution is advised.
The gameplay mechanics allow for application of different tactics - regardless of the role the player was assigned, they can experiment with different approaches to complete the objectives. Playing as the Killer, the player is capable of eliminating subsequent targets in unfrequented alleys for example, or cause mayhem in plain sight, while everyone is caught by surprise. As the Sheriff - the Killer's prime target, the player acts in concealment, observing the surroundings and monitoring the behaviour of suspicious figures. However, one can also reveal their identity as the Sheriff at the very beginning, waiting for the enemy's mistakes. Ordinary citizens have relatively the greatest number of opportunities, for they can assume the roles of a journalist, doctor, scientist, firefighter or even a ghost or a zombie. Apart from special abilities, each of these groups has many different items at their disposal (a metal detector for instance). Neither do the items nor special abilities alone prevent one's death however, for these have to be accompanied by proper deduction in order to achieve success.
Game modes
Crazy Killer for PC is a massive multiplayer online game, thus it does not come with restrictions as to the number of players - each is assigned a different, random role. Obviously, the more players participate, the game gets more difficult, but also more exciting.
Technical aspects
Although Crazy Killer for PC utilizes the modern-day Unreal Engine 4, the game does not reflect its capabilities. Crazy Killer offers colorful visuals resembling a comic strip. Both the character models and different environmental objects are relatively simple. However, the gameplay is fluent thanks to that, even when the game is launched on less powerful hardware.
