Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back is the continuation of the colorful platformer from 1996 in which we tried to thwart the plans of a crazy scientist. The game was developed by Naughty Dog studio - the same development team that worked on the first game.
Plot
Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back continues the plot started in the first part. After the final battle with Dr. Neo Cortex, the scientist ends up in a cave, where he finds a mysterious crystal of great power. The scientist decides to use the unique crystals to improve his Cortex Vortex machine, which will turn all inhabitants of the Earth into obedient slaves. To achieve this, however, he must find all 25 crystals, and his recent enemy - Crash - will be helpful in this. When the hero learns about the evil intentions of the scientist, he decides once again to thwart his plans.
Mechanics
In terms of mechanics, Crash Bandicoot 2 doesn't differ significantly from its predecessor. Despite the 3D graphics, we don't have full freedom of movement - we can only move on a predetermined route. We visit new, diverse locations, such as the jungle, canals, the Arctic and even space. The game is divided into 30 levels, including special bonus stages. Unlike the original, the game can be saved at any time, and each of the stages can be replayed - we can use this option to look for secrets scattered around the maps.
Technical aspects
As for the graphics, Crash Bandicoot 2 has slightly improved visuals and character animations, which has resulted in slightly more comfortable controls. However, the colorful and extremely smooth graphics of the game didn't age significantly and can be enjoyed even after many years.
