COVID: The Outbreak is a strategic game in which we manage the Global Health Organization (GHO), which is trying to fight the coronavirus epidemic. The player's task is to coordinate the activities of the services and make various difficult decisions. In the game you can also find educational content - it provides specific information about the pandemic. The Polish company Jujubee is responsible for the development and release of this work.

Plot

The background for COVID: The Outbreak is the real events - the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 epidemic causing COVID-19 disease in 2020.

Mechanics

In COVID: The Outbreak is a strategy game in which our task is to manage the Global Health Organization (GHO, one can guess that this is a reference to the World Health Organization) during the coronavirus epidemic. The gameplay comes down to observing maps and statistics, analysing data and making decisions. The main goal of the game is to stop the spread of the disease.

The player influences the spending of money, selection of personnel, constructing of buildings and structures (e.g. field hospitals, checkpoints or police stations), conducting medical research and developing ways of combating the virus (bearing in mind that the pathogen can mutate and it cannot be ruled out that it will become even more dangerous). We also have to deal with false informations e.g. to prevent panic.)

Technical aspects

COVID: The Outbreak has quite a simple graphic design, consisting mainly of two-dimensional maps, charts and drawings. The interface is clear and the colours have been chosen in such a way that they do not hinder the absorption of information.
