Contra: Operation Galuga

Contra: Operation Galuga is a remake of an iconic 1987 shoot'em up. It was developed by WayForward, known for the Shantae series and Kunio-kun games, and published by Konami.

Plot

Contra: Operation Galuga is set on the tituar archipelago near New Zealand. We play as elite Contra commandos, Bill Rizer and Lance Bean, tasked with stopping the Red Falcon terrorist group before they doom all of humanity.

Mechanics

Contra: Operation Galuga is a side-scroller. We play as one of the commandos, making our way through eight large stages - jungles, waterfalls, hostile military facilities. We must jump on platforms, avoid traps and dispatch hordes of enemies. Our vast roster of weaponry includes a regular machine gun, a spread shot rifle, a laser emitter and a homing missile launcher. Some newly introduced features are powerful Overload abilities and upgradable weapons. Apart from regular enemies, we'll also face powerful bosses. Some sections also switch the perspective to third-person or have is piloting a rocketbike.

Game modes

Contra: Operation Galuga's story mode can be completed solo or in local co-op for two players. There's also arcade mode for up to four players.

Technical aspects

Contra: Operation Galuga features thoroughly refreshed, colorful, cartoonish visuals. The game's original soundtrack has been modernly arranged.
