Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D Description
Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D is the first installment of Combat of Giants series, developed for Nintendo 3DS portable console. The game was created by Ubisoft company’s subsidiary studio, with a view of teenage audience, interested in dinosaurs.
Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D is an RPG – players control the prehistoric beasts, develop their skills and fight other dinosaurs.
At the start the game offers 18 species of dinosaurs divided into four groups: predators (Tyrannosaur, Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, Allosaurus, Ceratosaurus), hunters (Velociraptor, Oviraptor, Ornitholestes, Troodon), defender (Ankylosaurid, Euoplocephalus, Stegosaurus, Edmonton) and chargers (Triceratops, Styracosaurus, Einiosaurus, Chasmosaurus). Besides, there are 28 additional playable reptiles waiting to be unlocked.
The ultimate goal is to defeat the mighty king of dinosaurs – the Arkosaurus. In order to challenge him to a duel, first you have to win against all opponents encountered in five locations, while playing as a chosen dinosaur from each group. On your journey through prehistoric landscapes you can smash trees and rocks in search of precious items and rewards, which improve your strength and give you extra info on dinosaurs.
An interesting idea, is optional collecting bones scattered across the visited locations. You can use them to build four dinosaur skeletons – once completed, they unlock extra playable characters.
Duels are fought on designated arenas. In combat you can attack, push, block, dodge, charge, or perform combos. Combat system is based on attacks and counter-attacks, and each dinosaur has a slightly different tactics.
One of the game’s advantages are dinosaur customization options. You can make your beasts unique thanks to 30 colors and 8 stripe patterns. Although Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D does not include multiplayer duels, players can trade with one another. Moreover, StreetPass technology enables passive participation in fights (info on a nearby player’s dinosaur is used to generate a duel against an AI-controlled opponent imitating the player’s behavior).
The game sports neat audiovisuals. Animations of dinosaurs look natural and the 3D effect (thanks to the console additional screen) adds to overall realism.
