Twin-stick shooter in which we play as an armed snail and explore the world full of dangers. In Clid the Snail we grab one of the guns and eliminate hordes of enemies, only occasionally solving simple puzzles to make the game more interesting.
Clid the Snail is a dynamic twin-stick shooter, inspired by such games as Hotline Miami or Enter the Gungeon (although it must be admitted that at first glance you can't tell). The project was developed by an independent Spanish team Weird Beluga Studio.
Plot
Clid the Snail takes us on a journey to the world in which humanoid animals - mollusks, worms, rats or even hedgehogs - live under the feet of humans. They lead quite a lush life, creating complex communities, building houses and settlements and finally fighting each other using sophisticated arsenal. The main character of the game is the snail named Clid, who along with other representatives of his species led a quiet life in the citadel. One day the protagonist decides to set off on a long journey to experience fantastic adventures and face many dangers. His faithful friend, a skylight named Belu, accompanies him on the journey.
Mechanics
In Clid the Snail we observe the action from a top down view. Clid's journey leads through varied and ingeniously designed levels. The guitar, for example, serves as a bridge, and other human "trash" is used by animals to build houses and fortifications.
As we travel through this unusual land, we face hordes of enemies almost every step of the way, with powerful bosses leading the way. On our way there are both hostile animals and machines armed to the teeth. During dynamic battles (Clid moves quite nimbly, especially for a snail) we use a wide range of weapons (including rifles, shotguns and laser cannons) and combat gadgets. In addition, Clid's shell can gain additional properties, becoming an acid, fire or electric shell that inflicts additional damage to enemies.
The game is varied by simple puzzles waiting to be solved, and as you progress you learn more and more about both Clid and the world around him.
Technical aspects
Clid the Snail graphics is kept in a rather dark style, enhanced by sparse lighting and color scheme.
