Claire: Extended Cut
Adventure 30 August 2016
An extended edition of Claire - a survival horror game released in 2014. In comparison to the original release, the new edition brings mainly improved audiovisuals. Once again, the development works were carried out by Hailstorm Games. The game still offers a two-dimensional environment and pixel-art graphics. However, the creators managed to implement both 3D objects and depth of field effects. Both the plot and mechanics remain unchanged, thus the protagonist, the titular teenager, faces both monsters and demons from her past when exploring the building of a haunted school. For the most part, the player traverses the game world, managing their equipment and avoiding direct contact with the enemies. Importantly, an in-game fear meter constantly monitors the player's actions - when it reaches maximum, the protagonist can die.
Claire
Adventure 08 July 2014
A survival horror taking place in a 2D environment. The game is a debut project of an independent studio Hailstorm Games. The authors were inspired by classics such as Silent Hill or Clockwork. The player assumes the role of the titular character who, as a result of mysterious circumstances, has been imprisoned in a school infested by monsters. The girl has to face not only the monsters themselves but also the demons of her past. The gameplay focuses on exploration, inventory management and avoiding enemies – the teenager sneaks behind their backs, distracts them using various items and takes advantage of numerous available hideouts. The game also includes a Sanity meter – when the meter is full, it may result in protagonist’s demise. Claire includes different difficulty levels and a New Game Plus mode that allows the player to begin a new game without losing the acquired equipment.
